On a sunny Friday the lunch ladies of Kettle Falls High School hosted a lively back-to-school BBQ, welcoming students, staff, and teachers to kick off the new school year. The event, held on the school grounds, was a huge hit, drawing in over 200 attendees who enjoyed a delicious spread, games, and a sense of community.
Organized entirely by the school's dedicated lunch staff, the BBQ featured a variety of classic favorites, including Capri Suns, chicken burgers, chips, and a delightful assortment of desserts. The lunch ladies, who are often the unsung heroes of the school day, served up smiles as they filled plates with delicious food.
“We wanted to do something special to bring everyone together,” said head lunch lady, Robin Albertson, who has been with the school for a few years. “It’s more than just serving food during the school year; it’s about making sure our students feel cared for and supported.”
In addition to the food, the event featured fun games for the students, music, and a chance to enjoy one of the last great sun filled days of fall.
Principal Wells expressed his gratitude to the lunch staff, noting, “This event shows the heart of our school community. The lunch ladies do so much more than just serve meals—they create a welcoming environment for our students every day.”
As the bell rang to start class after lunch time, attendees lingered, enjoying the final moments of the bright sunny lunch time. Many students and staff commented on how the BBQ set a positive tone for the school year ahead, making it clear that Kettle Falls High is not just a school but a community where everyone is valued.
