In Mrs. Donnelly's class, all 4th grade students have been learning about Washington State. They have learned about the geography, the climate, our economics, the natural resources, and other important facts and information for the 5 regions. One of many activities was to create a bulletin board sized mural showing what they have learned.

During Kindergarten's first Adventure down at Locust Grove on Lake Roosevelt, they were the first grade level to try out the new strider bikes. Other activities on the adventure included a hike, animal yoga, sand exploration, time on the playground, and even investigating a dead bull snake! They named it Sky đ .

"Growing Kindness" KFES para educators have been handing out kindness bracelets all over school to students they catch being kind. At All School Crew those students have been filling a marble jar to show how we are growing kindness in our students. All School Crew is an assembly with all grades at the start of the day every Wednesday in our lunch room.

We are so excited to learn more science this year! 4th Grade has focused on investigating energy transfers, collisions, and variables with the question âWhy an object's motion changes?â 2nd Grade has studied erosion and conservation. The Piping Plover is disappearing from beaches, so students were studying reasons why there are fewer birds. They are specifically looking at the effects water and wind have on beaches.

3rd Grade students participated in the annual Water Festival recently. Students spent half the day at Locust Grove and half the day at the Sherman Creek Fish Hatchery learning facts about Lake Roosevelt and about water topics such as water cycles, fish species, hydrology, checking stream health, water safety, invasive species, raising hatchery fish, riparian zoning, and the differences between predators, prey, and omnivores. This event was hosted by local agencies including the Colville and Sherman Creek Fish Hatcheries, Lake Roosevelt Parks Service, Tribal Fish Department, Avista Power, Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, and the Kettle Falls Historical Center, represented by Dwight Morgan, a local historian.

At Kettle Falls Elementary we have started to explore more in science. 3rd Graders got to explore Balance and Motion in science. They created classroom Agreements, and Notice and Wonders. They also got to be hands on experimenting with their balancing kits. Students will make observations and of an objects motion to provide evidence that a pattern can be used to predict future motion while studying forces and interactions.

How do you start your day? Students in Ms. Munds Kindergarten class, like all the other grade levels at the elementary school, start the school day with a Crew meeting to build character and community. Some activities included in their Crew meetings are the Pledge of Allegiance, a âHello Friendsâ song, and a "How are you feeling today?" check before starting more challenging tasks.

"Making Friends Beyond the Classroom" 4th Grade students participated in Better World Day by creating gifts and cards for the local seniors at Gold Hill Manor. They prepared the cards and poems to read to the residents, and delivered handmade paintings and bird feeders. The 4th graders hope you will see or hear this message and do something special to make the âWorld Betterâ for someone in your life!
