Have you been able to enjoy our great outdoors recently? Here at KFES we are still adventuring strong, despite the short season of snow with sledding, snowshoeing, beach exploration, and survival skill training. 1st and 4th Grade went on sledding adventures. Kindergarten got to try the new snow shoes and hike around in the fresh powder. 2nd and 3rd grade have done some beach exploration with 2nd Grade focusing on beach cleanup, while 3rd grade added survival skills practice, with shelter building and warming fires.
“Ribbit!” What do you know about frogs? 3rd Grade students are working through their Frog Module - researching and learning about frog adaptations. The students will become experts on a frog, create their own book, and finally, do a presentation on their frog. The final products will be presented to all students at the Freaky Frog Festival.
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on January 15th, KFES students completed jobs for family and friends to earn and donate canned food to the Kettle Falls Food Bank. What service did you provide to others?
Our new KFES "Character Strong” crew shirts are here! We took the opportunity to show off some new school spirit. Thanks to a great chocolate sale last spring, all students received a FREE shirt from our ASB fund. Plan to wear the shirts each Wednesday for All School CREW.
2nd Grade paleontologists have been learning about fossils and becoming an expert about a dinosaur. Students then wrote stories about their dinosaur to jigsaw share and teach everyone in their small group.
The Kettle Falls High School Cheer Team is hosting Mini-Cheer Camp in the Elementary Cafeteria this week. Kindergarten thru middle school students, and even the high school boys basketball team, are working with the cheer team to learn a routine for the January 22nd, 5:30 pm Monday evening basket ball game at the Middle School. Come show our bulldog spirit and cheer them on!
Due to adverse road conditions, all after-school activities are canceled at the Elementary School and Middle School. This includes sports, Math is Cool, Mini Cheer Camp, etc.
High School sports practices are optional. Athletes will not be penalized for not attending practice today.

2nd Grade students celebrated the Christmas season creating some fantastic reindeer!
Fourth Grade math students are trying out newly learned strategies for solving multi-digit multiplication and division problems, and using base 10 pieces to practice multi-digit addition and subtraction problems. Being able to manipulate math tools is essential for conceptual understanding.
After School Dancers are hard at work preparing for their performance in the Christmas Program this week. This year, prep work included some prop design. Come see the Annual Christmas Program on Thursday, December 14 at 6:30pm in the Middle School Gym!
Kindergarten mathematicians are creating quilting patterns in Ms. Munds' class. Students created quilt blocks out of paper squares, and will put these blocks together to form a quilt using an ABAB pattern!
Here is a sneak peak of the beautiful bags 3rd Grade students decorated in service to the Lady Lions. Their annual Christmas Craft Fair takes place this weekend, December 2nd, at Kettle Falls Middle School, 9am to 3pm.
Blessings come in many ways however, when it comes to feeding students and community a home cooked meal for Thanksgiving, it brings much joy to the Food service staff. Between all 3 schools and ELC we served approx.. 870 meals. We couldn’t be more proud of our kitchen staff and all of those who volunteered to help them serve up a wonderful Turkey lunch.

In CREW Club, students have been learning a variety of art techniques since school began. Kindergarten worked on drawing lines, shapes, and people. 1st grade made continuous line drawings with cubism of their favorite place. 2nd Grade worked on self portraits. 3rd Grade drew people in action and Native American ledger art paintings. 4th Grade worked with photography and music - drum circles and tongue drums.
"Paleontologist at Work!” 2nd grade students went on their annual adventure to the Stone Rose Fossil dig site in Republic, WA. It was an exciting day, as students got to use their classroom learning about fossils and do fieldwork to find real fossils.
Honoring our country's veterans is important to us at KFES! Students participate in activities such as making cards for veterans, joining in a school wide assemble to learn and sing about the Veterans Day holiday, and much more. One student got to hand his dad a card personally. THANK YOU Veterans for serving and protecting us!!! 🇺🇸
Remember those pumpkins grown by the 2nd Grade last Spring? One was a GIANT! Students had a chance to guess the weight of the pumpkin, and have that pumpkin carved in class for Halloween. The student with the closest guess would also lead the Costume Parade. One guess was spot on - 53 pounds! Congratulations to Mrs. Hoover's class 🎃.
