KFMS Track & Field is Off and Running!
Under the leadership of Coaches Cosette St. Clair and Ryan Newby, our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade athletes have been putting in the miles—competing in meets across the region and representing KFMS with pride and determination.
While we don’t currently have a home track to host meets, parents had the opportunity to cheer on our runners last week in Chewelah, showing just how strong our community support really is!
Way to go, Bulldogs!

KFMS Boys Baseball is Bringing the Heat!
Our KFMS boys have been putting in the work, sharpening their skills, and showing great teamwork this season. With two home games next week, it's the perfect time to come out and support the team!
Cheer on our athletes and their dedicated coaches—Braxton Fitzsimmons, Lauren Davis, and Jonathan Tucker.
Go Bulldogs!

KFMS 7th & 8th Grade Softball Season is Underway!
Led by coaches Kori Corvino, Cassie Carstens, and Hailey Young, our KFMS softball teams are hitting the field with determination and team spirit. Don’t miss their final home game on May 1—come out and show your support!

Here are more photos from the 8th-grade trip to 49 Degrees North! A huge thank you to everyone who purchased cookie dough last fall – your support made this amazing opportunity possible for our students!

Mr. Kroiss and the 8th grade team took 8th grade students to 49 Degrees North today for a fun day in the snow. Students learned about safety and took a lesson before being able to hit the slopes alone. Thank you to Mr. Kroiss and Stephanie for organizing this every year!

Last week, KFMS hosted its exciting annual Pi Day celebration, where students, staff, and parents enjoyed math games, crafted 3.14-inspired creations, and indulged in delicious pizza pie. The evening wrapped up with pie drawings, and over 10 lucky students went home with a pie! A huge thank you to the dedicated staff who worked tirelessly to make this event a success.

It's the first day of Spring at KFMS, and both kids and adults are soaking up the warmer weather! With just 2.5 weeks until Spring Break, the excitement is building!

KFMS 6th-8th grade students have the opportunity to select an Opps/Electives class each quarter. This quarter, they can choose from a variety of exciting options such as 3D Printing, Weights, Art Time, Baseball and Softball Skills, Algebra, or exploring a Foreign Language. These engaging 30-minute classes provide a fun and valuable addition to their busy schedules

Fifth-grade students had the opportunity to share their writing with their sixth-grade buddies, allowing the older students to offer guidance and suggestions for improvement. Activities like this not only motivate students to put forth their best effort but also provide a meaningful, authentic audience beyond just their teacher.

Each year, the KFMS ASB uses the proceeds from the annual fall fundraiser to purchase shirts for students and staff. We encourage everyone to wear their shirts on Blue and Gold Friday to show school spirit. This tradition helps promote our school’s goal of fostering a strong sense of belonging for all students. Thank you to everyone who supports our fundraiser and contributes to the success of our school!

KFMS had an impressive turnout this year, with 29 boys joining the 7th and 8th grade basketball teams. Under the guidance of coaches Michael Potestio and Cylie Richards, the team had a fantastic season, showcasing dedication and teamwork on the court.

Stand-up desks have become a popular trend at KFMS, with teachers and support staff embracing them to enhance classroom dynamics. These desks allow staff to move freely around the room and hallways, staying closer to students and activities. This increased mobility fosters better engagement, promotes interaction, and creates a more flexible learning environment.

Mr. Kroiss and his KFMS students have focused on three core principles in Health Education this year: integrity, best effort, and sportsmanship. Students use a rubric to assess themselves and set goals for improvement. They also reflect on the KFMS values of kindness, responsibility, and teamwork while learning the new game of Hand Ball!

Students are encouraged to embody the qualities of the KFMS goal every day. Staff recognize these positive behaviors by awarding Focused Recognition cards when they witness acts of kindness, responsibility, teamwork, and service. This month, we celebrated these students by drawing names for a fun and energetic dodge ball game with the staff—an event that always proves to be a highlight for both students and staff alike!

Mrs. Benner applied for and received a grant from the Washington State School Retirees Association to purchase a set of class books. She used the funds to buy The Giver for an upcoming unit of study. KFMS is fortunate to have teachers like Mrs. Benner who seek out additional funding to support their classrooms and students. Congratulations, Mrs. Benner!

Our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Math is Cool students competed in Spokane. Yale Edwards, Payton Boring, and Charles Kelly had the highest scores in their respective grade levels at our school. In the Pi Division, Kaylee Wicks placed 3rd, Emily Manning came in 2nd, and Yale Edwards took 1st. Both our 6th and 8th grade teams earned 1st place in the Pi Division, and the top 8 athletes are advancing to state. Over 30 students met with Mrs. Purvis at lunch throughout the year to improve their math skills. We are very proud of Mrs. Purvis and her team.

Kettle Falls Middle School took time this week to thank their school nurse by participating in the school-wide Character Dare. Nurse Tammy received numerous thank-you cards filled with words of inspiration. Thank you, Tammy!

KFMS transformed Martin Luther King Jr. Day into a day of service. Students were encouraged to complete a chore and request food in exchange for their work. The food drive became a friendly competition between advisories, with the winner determined by the total weight of donations. Mrs. Walker’s class took the top spot, bringing in 423 pounds of food and earning donuts as their prize. In total, KFMS donated 734 pounds of food to the KF Community Chest.

KFMS recently held its monthly assembly, celebrating the wide range of extracurricular activities that students are involved in. Highlights included recognition for Math is Cool, the Robotics Club, Boys Basketball, Mini cheer Camp, and the 8th graders who are playing up in Basketball, Wrestling, and Trap Shooting. The event wrapped up with a spirited relay race featuring both students and staff, with Mr. Mace and Mr. Flugel joining in the fun. It was a great way to show school spirit and teamwork!

The KFHS Cheerleaders recently hosted an exciting cheer camp for KFMS students, culminating in an amazing halftime performance at a high school basketball game. The students absolutely nailed it! Go Bulldogs!
